The lack of a Fred Thompson Surge
Modified By Michael Kenney on 1/21/2008 2:36:27 AM)

.....is what keeps me from launching the Alaskan cabin thing. Dick Proenneke is god.

While the growin' season up there is short, my farm would be small. Personal use only.

Can't make the numbers work?

Buddy, in my opinion, it sounds to me like there's only one number that really matters right now.

40.

If it's a mid-life thing, I'd merely suggest that those come and go. If it's a realization that the clock is ticking, and there's this thing you always wanted to do.......I say do it.

What's the worst thing that could happen? You stop in N. Sioux City, South Dakota with a wet cell phone, and you turn around.

What's the best thing that could happen?

Only one way to find out.

But then on the other hand....what the hell do i know?

(What an enjoyable read.  Thanks for the insight.)

Re: The lack of a Fred Thompson Surge
Fear. Fear is killing me right now. It may be a mid-life thing. If it is it's been going on for close to 5 years. I've frittered away the last 5 years of my life on meaningless work and meaningless relationships. But I can't let the regret get the better of me.

But, yeah. I'm afraid. I'm afraid to start. I've even become afraid to think about it being possible. Then I get mad at myself for being afraid, then mad at myself for being mad at myself, then afraid that I'm mad at myself. It's not the most ideal of circular emotional comfort.

I think I need to find out.

Thanks all y'all for listening (if you're out there). I'm enjoying the hell out of watching football and Idol with you.
