Obama's on tv the other night.

Me: Gosh, Mom, doesn't he look almost exactly like Dad?

Mom: Well, his hair is more tightly curled than your father's was. And his ears are bigger. Your dad had really small ears.

My father was light-skinned, but even the mannerisms are similar. I can hardly watch him.

Yeah. It brings up all sorts of complicated and troublesome feelings. Consequently, I haven't seen more than a couple of minutes of Obama, anytime he's been on. I should just sit through a speech, and the exposure will eventually defeat the association. To some degree, though, I don't want to defeat the association, like when I dream about him, and that's how I get to see him again. He was 48 when he died, just five years older than I am now.
